Earlier this year (2/10/17), The Raging Nathans and Rad Company released their Split 7” EP via Rad Girlfriend Records. The split is The Raging Nathans’ first release since their split with Wonk Unit in 2016 and its Rad Company’s first release since their Jukebox Single Series EP in 2013.

On this split, two of Ohio’s best punk bands serve up four new songs and seven-and-a-half minutes of pure, unfiltered punk rock. Both bands deliver some of their best work on these songs, so whether you are an old fan or a new one, this split is perfect for you.

First up, you have The Raging Nathans. The first track on their side is a brand-new song called “Say Why”. “Say Why” is a fast and dangerously catchy song that will have you tapping your foot and humming along before you know it. Their next track is a cover of the DEVO classic, “Gates Of Steel”. The Raging Nathans did an excellent job with this cover, and the song translated very well from new wave to punk rock. So, DEVO fan or not, you can’t help but enjoy it.

On the flip side, you have Rad Company. It’s been four years since the last time Rad Company released any new songs, but it sounds like they haven’t missed a beat. They absolutely rip through their half of the split with two new songs, “Blood Bath” and “Eat Crow”. Both tracks are fast-paced and perfectly crafted punk rock songs, proving Rad Company have still got it, even after four years without releasing anything new.

With a new Raging Nathans full-length on the way, and hopefully some more new Rad Company music soon as well, now is the perfect time to start listening to both bands, making this split is a great place to start.

Fans of bands like The Dopamines, Dillinger Four, The Murderburgers and The Lillingtons should be sure to check out both of these bands and this split!

Album Score: 4/5
